The reason I'm not very active on here as far as uploads go, is that I had this idea in my head for how I wanted to treat my deviantart gallery: I wanted to have just fully finished pieces in here, properly scanned and presented all clean and nice.
The problem is I don't have time to make lots of fully finished pieces, and even less time to go visit the scanners on a regular basis. Most of the work I do at the moment are tattoos (my day job, and obviously not something you can scan or viably get a professional photographer for), tattoo designs (and these rarely make it into full colour due to time constraints - most are just line work/sketches), oil portrait studies and the odd small piece to let off steam when I can.
So I decided to fuck my standards and just upload whatever I can here.
(I'll still only be putting up my favourites here, so if you wanna see everything I'd suggest instagram or tumblr. I'm @inkinsomnia on both)
So here goes!

Hard to believe, I know. I promise I'm not bullshitting this time, as much as I sound like a broken record. Heh.
Why stick my head out of the cave now? Well, I got given a digital camera for christmas, so I finally have the means to get my art on the computer again. And I have a new computer ordered and arriving in a day or two, which means I can finally get back to digital painting too (this old laptop just can't handle photoshop/painter/any heavy duty programs any more).

I've photographed all the art I've been doing over the past few months so I'll slowly be uploading those over the next couple of weeks, to avoid spamming you guys... And by that point I should have new stuff to show you! *fingers crossed* My painting/drawing time is severely compromised at the moment due to working two jobs, but I'm trying my best, I swear.
Here's to a productive 2014! I have missed this place.

News From the Cave

Long time, no update... I have a bad habit of neglecting this place.
Problem is, I don't really like posting anything other than fully finished pieces in here. Aaaand, I don't really finish things all that often.
I'm gonna continue posting here as usual, finished pieces with the odd other little thing here and there... but if you wanna keep a closer eye on my stuff, WIP's and sketches and studies and practice and all that good stuff, then you should definitely pop on over to my Tumblr: inkinsomnia.tumblr.com/
It's still a work in progress (I need to fiddle around with the theme and layout a bit more), but I upload far more often over there.
I'd gotten into a good swing of things, all inspired and excited and lots of good ideas to work on - then my good old wacom pen died.
Affording a new one really isn't in my budget right now either.
It's not all bad; I'm using this time to focus on traditional painting, go back to my good old oils and try out new mediums and stuff... That said, it might take a while before there's anything to post here (as usual). So yeah, the tumblr. All the good stuff is there.

Prints~! :D [Edit]

Edit: Updated the print shop with some new pieces, including the latest painting "Under the Bridge" which was uploaded yesterday.
So I thought it was a bit early for me to start offering prints of my work; in my eyes I'm no where near that level yet, haha. But after posting the "Shoulda Known" piece on facebook, a few people were asking so... I went ahead and set them up. :')

Currently there's only Shoulda Known on there, but I'll be adding new work and possibly some t-shirt/hoodie designs very soon... (already got some plans and ideas a-brewin'!) Also, if you could have a look around my gallery and let me know which ones that are already there that you'd like to see as a print, that'd be a great help.
Had to take a few days off to completely gut my room and chuck half of it out; it took way longer than I thought (3 or 4 days! whaaaaat.... I was working for two of them aswell though.) But I've finally finished and I'm so happy to return to my pencils and brushes and tablet... So many ideas, so many things to paint, so little time!! Expect updates fairly soon, I think...

The idea of this one is I post daily (or more likely, nightly) with a screenshot of what I'm working on at the time and the music that I'm listening to, and maybe a few thoughts if I'm feeling talkative. This one's mostly to indulge myself since this is the sort of thing I like looking at/sharing, but hopefully you guys enjoy it too.

I basically just come on here for a few minutes every so often and reblog/like things I think are cool. So, lots of pretty artwork/photography and things I find inspiring... and lots of nerdy movie gifs. Woop.
I also have facebook and twitter, buuut I never use twitter (maybe in the future I'll consider it; I don't know). The link to my facebooks on my deviantart Id, but I'll be honest, its not very art related at all anymore and I'm addicted to the 'like' button so I'll spam your newsfeed. Feel free to add anyway, but please message me saying you're from Deviantart, since I've stopped adding just anyone for good reason.
